Nature School
This all-weather enrichment program is 100% outdoors! Our emergent curriculum philosophy will have your kids engaged and learning with nature.
With monthly themes, and a child focused rhythm, each session is designed to be interactive. All classes are tailored to focus on the specific needs and development of the group and will blossom skills in problem-solving, creativity, and confidence.

This 100% outdoor, all-weather class, is for parents who want to spend more time in nature with their kids and connect with other parents.
The Outdoor Creators curriculum is an art-based program that incorporates what nature gives us. These 2-hour sessions follow the rhythm of the kids and allows individual creativity through open ended projects and child led nature walks.

Outdoor Explorers (Mom Only Hike)
For the mom who wants to feel comfortable in nature.
During these 2-hour hikes, you’ll become familiar with the outdoor environment, learn the trails and build an understanding of plants and wildlife. These hikes are a great opportunity to build confidence and ask questions to make getting outside easier. We can all benefit from getting outdoors, even us moms!
Outdoor Explorers in a nutshell:
2-hour hike for moms (sorry, dad!)
Time for questions you have about getting outdoors
Learn to read trail markers, identify poison ivy, know what to wear in all weather, and more

For the past 8 years, I’ve led outdoor co-ops, playgroups, and forest school groups.
I learned people want to be outdoors, but they don’t know how to get there. And I get it - as a busy mom, there’s no time for another “thing”, and getting outside ends up becoming a “should-do”.
My desire to make the outdoors accessible for others was sparked when I watched my daughter leave my side and get involved in an outdoor nature class for the first time. I watched her enthusiasm, personality, and individuality blossom in this outdoor class. Something that indoor programs had failed to deliver. This is the magic of nature.

Yes! All programs are adapted to meet the individual group's needs. At Outdoor Play Connection everyone is affirmed and celebrated, regardless of their gender identity, sexuality, race, age, religion, or ability.

The sessions follow the rhythm of the kids enrolled in the class. This means that the kids lead the way and set the general structure. This is done to allow the kids to explore their creativity and individuality with minimal instruction while being outdoors. Using the seasonal curriculum an Outdoor Creators session will look something like this; short hike, meet for a project, read a book, and end with a nature walk.

Absolutely! The sessions are designed to be all-weather. The beauty of this is that it changes your mindset around the “right time” to get outside. You’ll learn to dress appropriately for rain and snow and the kids can blow off steam in all seasons.
The only time we don’t get outside is when it is unsafe to do so. I send weekly weather updates so you’ll always know ahead of time.

No need to worry, all sessions are paced around those who are there. Even with a mixed group of 2-year-olds, and older children, I adapt the class to be enriching and accessible for all.

There are many proven benefits of multi-age learning and I’m a strong advocate for it in my sessions. Multi-age learning fosters a sense of leadership in older children and the younger kids have the opportunity to look up to someone who isn’t an adult. The classes are also designed for different ages to interact and experience class in their own way. The older ones still get the big kid time they need.
